Many other people have stepped up to volunteer.  Others are waiting for a position.

Manhattan Irish Fest needs help in the following Areas:
Open Director and Head committee positions:

Volunteer Director:  Coordinate with many groups involved the placement of volunteers.  A master list is already available (just needs adjusting).  Most work is done prior to the event with some last minute changes.  Many volunteers are already committed and placed into the list.

Scholarship Chairperson:  In charge of the 2007 Manhattan Irish fest King and Queen scholarship contest.  Includes getting information around town through newspaper, cable TV and flyers.  Creating a committee for judging the contest and contacting the winners and losers.  You must also assist them in the parade and at the park festivities.

Sponsorship Chairperson:  Work with assistant director Shawn Mojzis in securing fest sponsorships.  This involves sending letters, making phone calls and visiting locations of businesses.  Also, making sure proper sponsorship has been given to each company including signage and more.

Cultural Tent Chairperson:  In charge of implementing the cultural tent at the Irish Fest.  Work with a committee formed by the IASCW.  Lots of pre-planning.  This is much needed at the fest.

Shuttle Bus Chairperson:  Pretty easy straightforward position.  Gather a small committee, arrange for a bus to be at the fest, select route and place signs.

Vendor Coordinator:  Work with directors and the 5 food vendors to make sure all problems are taken care of before the week of the fest.  Arrange for Health department to inspect the areas and see how much power each will need.  Also, arrange and assist those groups that would like to sell goods to raise money at the event.

Rugby (Shamrocks): Plain and simple.  Shamrock rugby coordinator.  Get teams,  times etc…..

Rugby (Morrigans) : Plain and simple.  Shamrock rugby coordinator.  Get teams,  times etc…..

Security:  Making sure the tent is secure at all times.  Working with Brandon Lipke and Danny Krekel and possible volunteers from Joliet Jr. College.

Shift Change Coordinator (Shamrock):  A delegated Shamrock or friend of Shamrock that will lead the changeover of tables and chairs with Brandon Lipke and Danny Krekel between 4pm and 6pm

VIP Area:  Great job here.  This person is in charge of the sponsor VIP tent located in the south Pavilion.  This will be a limited access tent for our special guests.

Regional Marketing:  Working with the Directors and City Beverage and the media to get the word out about this years fest.

If you would like to help on a committee, but not be in charge, please let us know.  Our first meeting is Wednesday, November 29th at Bit-O-Blarney pub in Manhattan at 7pm.
